RidgeRun is exclusively focused on delivering embedded Linux®, software solutions for Internet appliances utilizing digital signal processors (DSPs). RidgeRun provides DSPLinux TM, a powerful software platform which includes development tools, drivers, applications and services that offer greater flexibility and reduced development times for OEM's using DSPs. Through its strategic relationship with Texas Instruments, the world market leader in DSPs and the lead investor in RidgeRun's Series A financing, the company is developing solutions for TI's next generation of dual processor components that combine both general purpose and DSP processors. The company was founded in May 2000 by industry-leading embedded systems developers with a long track record of delivering high-quality, high-volume products, including many Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printers. The management team has extensive experience in embedded operating systems, networking, imaging and Internet appliances.
RidgeRun's software products are the DSPLinux software platform, the DSPLinux Software Development Kit (SDK) and a range of middleware applications and connectivity components to enable specific vertical market appliance solutions. RidgeRun's DSPLinux is the first Linux software distribution solution targeted solely at DSP components. DSPLinux leverages the power of TI's DSP architectures to deliver the performance-leading platform for wireless, broadband and multimedia appliances using DSPs. These appliances include mobile and VoIP phones, digital cameras, audio and video players, automotive systems, set-top boxes, home networking gateways, and PDAs. DSPLinux combines an Open Source embedded Linux kernel with RidgeRun's advanced proprietary technologies to deliver industrial-strength embedded solutions. By leveraging the strength of Open Source software, including the enormous worldwide community of Linux developers, DSPLinux allows digital appliance manufacturers to build more powerful, reliable and feature-rich products with a more rapid time-to-market.
RidgeRun's DSPLinux SDK Version 1.0, released in early May, includes an innovative Appliance Simulator to enable developers to start programming applications for DSP-based appliances in advance of hardware and silicon solutions being available. Developers wishing to purchase the SDK, or to learn more about RidgeRun's 30-day evaluation program can fill out the online application at www.dsplinux.net.
